A marketplace is built street by street.
Citywide coverage is a vanity metric. What matters is whether the feed is full in the four blocks around you.
Early marketplaces are tempted to spread: sign partners anywhere, announce a city, look large. The user experience of that is an app with three offers, all of them a twenty-minute drive away.
Density is the only thing that makes the first session work. So we sign clusters — enough kitchens in one neighbourhood that opening the app at seven produces a real choice, not a technicality.
One full neighbourhood beats five thin ones, every time, for both sides of the market.
It is slower to describe in a press release and considerably faster to grow, because a full feed is the only marketing that reliably works.
